Susi Sie |
SUSI SIE (1982) is a Berlin-based artist whose work moves between the fields of art and science. She is on a mission to explore the physical and mathematical nature of unusual forms, substances and materials
to show the hidden beauty and magic of our natural world that constantly surrounds us. Strictly applying analog techniques and refusing any computer animations or effects, Susi Sie’s haptic and detailed work is above all a highly personal study of the genuineness, perception and authenticity of things. Susi Sie’s work has been featured by internationally renowned online platforms such as Fubiz, Gizmodo, The Creators Project, This Is Colossal, Motionographer and Arte Creative, has been exhibited around the globe (New York, London, Paris, Rome, Sao Paulo, Norway) and won several Vimeo Staff Picks and awards at international film festivals. She studied video art in Maastricht (2002-2006) and worked in a Cologne-based post production agency (2006-2011). Since 2011 she works as a freelance director, DoP and editor. She does what she loves. And loves what she does. |

Quadrature is a collective for arts, light and robotics. The emphasis of our work is on the intersection of the physical and digital worlds and of art and science. The three members Jan Bernstein, Juliane Götz and Sebastian Neitsch met 10 years ago at the Kunsthochschule Burg Giebichenstein in Halle/Saale, Germany. Six years ago the first collaboration resulted in the wish to join forces and formulate a common artistic practice. Since 2012 all three members of Quadrature finally live and work in Berlin. They all share a love of machines and outer space. |
Quadrature will speak about their current works and projects, possible cooperations between art and science from an artist perspective, artistic practice in relation to data as material. |

Doron Sadja |
Doron Sadja is an American artist, composer, and curator whose work explores modes of perception and the experience of sound, light, and space. Often working with multi-channel spatialized sound, smoke machines, and high intensity lights, Sadja combines pristine electronics with lush romantic synthesizers, dense noise, and immersive light projections to create hyper-emotive sonic architecture. Although each of Sadja’s works are striking in their singular and focused approach, his output is diverse: spanning everything from 25 speaker sound works to stroboscopic smoke and light shows, 360 degree projection pieces, and custom built motorized speaker systems that can precisely track sound around a room. Sadja founded Shinkoyo Records and the West Nile performance space in Brooklyn (RIP), and currently runs the Sound Portraits lecture/listening series in Berlin. Sadja studied Technology in Music and Related Arts at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and received his MFA in Sound Art from Bard College where he studied with Maryanne Amacher, Marina Rosenfeld, and David Behrman. |
In 'Mapping the Perceptual Landscape', Doron Sadja will give an overview of his practice followed by a discussion of auditory and visual phenomena, approaches to site specific performance, and the importance of losing control of your electronic instruments. |
