<meta name="description" content="Scope is a meeting point for the creative and the curious, a platform for sharing and learning in an informal setting. Guest artists are invited to present a project, a concept, a process or an experience. The presentations are short, around 40 minutes and unrestricted in form. Each session offers a variety of topics and approaches; Scope is about exposure, not for the artist, but for the audience. If you wish to share at one of our sessions send us a mail to mail [at] scopesessions [dot] org. Our focus is on intermedia arts and technologies, but we love to be surprised..!

Responding live to music, she experiments with the movements of her hands and body in addition to placing various objects in front of the camera: feathers, leafs, fabrics, fire, etc. to create mesmerizing effects which are sent through a video mixer and out to a screen. For the last few years she has also been using her whole body for the visuals, starting to dance, perform and move in front of the screen. The pictures which appear are always different. Simple hand movements result in intriguing patterns and shapes on the screen …. which sometimes even look like birds or digital animated forms.

Frieder Weiss / http://frieder-weiss.de/ – With his background in computer science and automation technology, he started developing interactive systems in 1993. For many years he was codirector of Palindrome Performance group, developing media performances which toured worldwide and have received numerous awards. While his early works were focusing on movement-to-sound relations using bioelectrical sensor devices as well as video motion sensing, he continued with a focus on connecting interactive visuals with the body itself. He developed the video technologies and interactive stage projections for Chunky Move’s recent intermedia works ‘Glow’ and ‘Mortal engine’. For his contribution on ‘Glow’ he was rewarded with a ‘Green room award’ for ‘Design in Dance’. Both Pieces have been touring for many years now, including venues like BAM, New York, The Edinburgh Festival, The Sydney Opera house.

The Project aims to investigate the nature of human-machine relationship, provoking an interaction between the two. The artificial rat should appear to respond to human emotional states, and hence the biofeedback technology will be employed for the reactions measurement. Changes in emotional state of human participants will be used as an input for the rat, thus enabling a response. The responses of each participant will be visualized and compared in real time.
