Alona Rodeh
Safe and Sound: a personal reflection on the nature of alarming systems
Alona Rodeh was born in 1979 in Israel and is based in Tel Aviv and Berlin. Holding an MFA from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design (2009), Rodeh has presented large-scale commissioned projects and solo shows at several international venues including Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art (Herzliya, 2014), Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin, 2014), Helena Rubinstein Pavilion (Tel Aviv Museum, 2013), The Center for Contemporary Art (Tel Aviv, 2013), Plug In ICA (Winnipeg, 2012), and The Israeli Center for Digital Art (Holon, 2012). Rodeh has performed at the 54th Venice Biennial and The Israel Museum in Jerusalem. From 2013-2014, she was artist-in-residence at Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin. Alona Rodeh’s diverse practice uses a wide range of media, testing systems and cultural phenomena by agitating objects, spaces and situations into choreographed performances.
