20:00 / Neural Zoo Sofia Crespo Sofia Crespo is an artist working at the intersection of biology and technology. She is interested in the interplay between organic life, artificial mechanisms, simulation, evolution, and the idea that technologies are a biased product of the organic life that created them. Sofia is also concerned with the dynamic changes in the roles of artists working with machine learning and AI techniques. Inspired by the Codex Seraphinianus, Growing a Neural Zoo is an exploration of the ways that creativity operates: the combination of known elements into a new previously unseen artifact. The creator in this case would be the algorithm itself, but with a human artist as its muse. Isn’t all art made by humans an execution or reshaping of data absorbed through biological neurons? How can we continue to inspire machines to create art for us as emotional human beings.

21:00 / Art & Science: From the Brain to Body Fluids Florence Razoux Florence (Flo) Razoux is a biologist from background with a PhD in neurosciences & biomedical engineering. In parallel to their scientific career, Razoux started to explore an interdisciplinary creative landscape and has gradually become an active member of the Art & Science community. Bridging science, art, design and technology, Razoux uses various media to explore the dichotomy between the body and the mind. Their work was presented in London (Burnout, 2015), the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin (Gray Matters, 2017) and most recently MONOM, Berlin Center for Spatial Sound (Sgr-A*, 2018). Razoux is the founder of Zweigeist Berlin, a platform that promotes open science and encourages the dialogue between scientists and the public on diverse neuroscientific topics.
