<h4>Pierce Warnecke / Audio-visual works</h4>
<p>My work stems from interest in the effects of time on matter: modification, deterioration and disappearance. Whether the focus is on digital forms or rough materials, large scales of time or microscopic details, the goal of my work is to re-adapt existing objects and materials into parallel contexts where their signified meanings, symbols and cultural connections have become residual ghosts. I like to imagine false paradigms, inexistent branches of research and fictional sciences in order to create unrealistic questionings as a basis for a new work. Form emerges through a process of collecting, filtering and combining phenomena (objects, data, sounds, images) that is linked to the conjecture. There are explorations and structures in this 'research' but no conclusions, except the ones you make.</p>
<h5>About Pierce Warnecke</h5>
<p>Pierce Warnecke is a sound and video artist from California, currently residing in Berlin after living in France for 10 years. He graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2007 and in 2013 completed his Meisterschüler studies at Universität der Kunst Berlin (Kunst und Medien). In addition to artistic works, he co-curates Emitter Micro Festival and label with Kris Limbach. He has presented his works at KW Institut (Berlin), LEAP (Berlin), FEED (Berlin), Harvestworks (NY), Luggage Store Gallery (SF), Berklee (Boston), CalArts (LA) as well as festivals like Zero1 Biennale, Transmediale, Bozart/BEAF (Brussels), MadeiraDig (PT), LAB30 (DE), Jazz à Vienne, Jazz d'Or, Boston Cyberarts, Visionsonic (FR), Pixelache (FR), Vidéoformes (FR), SXSW Interactive (US) and more. He has released music on Khalija, Staaltape, Gaffer and Attenuation Circuit, and Gruenrekorder.</p>

<p>In the past few years we’ve been eagerly working on a complete rewrite of vvvv which lead to a new visual programming language in combination with a development and runtime environment. In this talk we’ll give you a short introduction into the key features of this new language we’re internally calling “50″.</p>

<h4>Embedded Artist / The Embedded Artist System</h4>
<p>In this talk Spahn and Steiner introduce their open source Embedded Artist System and talk about its capabilities, the motivation behind it and the development process.</p>
<h5>About Embedded Artist</h5>
<p>The Berlin based artists Malte Steiner and Wolfgang Spahn are exploring the artistic potential of embedded open source systems. These small-sized computing platforms gives the possibility to combine a multitude of independent devices to create a more powerful system than most single computers can provide. Based on the idea of free tools for free art, all hard- and software is open source and can be used, modified and improved by all other artists. Instead of using one high tech super computer for multiprojection Spahn and Steiner developed and share a system which allows theoreticaly the connection of thousands of independent embedded platforms for one gigantic multivision show and still keep the costs low by using the cheap mini computer Raspberry Pi, a platform originally designed for eductional purposes.</p>

<h4>Karla Brunet / The Sea: Art, Technology and Environment</h4>
<p>I will present my artwork related to the environment, more specifically to the sea of my surroundings. It's a mixture of formats: photo exhibition, interactive installation, DIY sensors, data visualization, video art, VJing, databending and web art, all having the same source, the sea and its underwater world. Some of the works are collective, developed at Ecoarte - a research group I coordinate at UFBA, Bahia, Brazil. Others are more introspective solo work, dealing with subjective issues of the sea. It is about disturbance, disruption, sensing and perceiving nature but also being entrapped by it. At the same time, art and science blend, in an attempt to create an intimate science.</p>
<h5>About Karla Brunet</h5>
<p>Karla Brunet is an artist and researcher, has a PhD in Audiovisual Communication and a master degree in Fine Arts. She has participated on many photography and digital arts exhibitions in Brazil, Europe and the USA and got a grant from FAPESB for a post-doctoral research on Mobile Technology and Art. Karla is a professor at IHAC and Pós- Cultura at UFBA, where she researches projects that present intersection of art, science and technology. From 2009-2012, Karla was the coordinator of Labdebug.net, a media lab focus on women and technology, and in 2012, she is the curator of FACMIL/LabMAM. Karla coordinates the Ecoarte, an interdisciplinary research and art group. Nowadays she lives in Berlin for a year research grant at UDK. </p>

<p>'Dance with Film' An improvised meeting of Butoh dance and hand-made Single 8 films of Butoh dance. Butoh is a journey to the Self. In this performance we explore existence and feeling beyond the mirage of film. There is no beginning and no ending.</p>
<h5>About Riko Murakami & Haruka Mitani</h5>
<p>Riko Murakami studied Image Arts and Science at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto. While still a student, she joined the Butoh dance company Kiraza and has appeared in productions 'Hana-Ikusa' (2012) and 'Uzume - The Power to Open a Wind Cave' (2014). She collaborated with art photographer Marco van Duyvendijk on the photobook 'Riko' (2014) and acted the lead role in Takashi Ito's film 'The Last Angel' (2014). She has also regularly contributed to the event series 'Experiments in Art and Technology' organized by Michael Lyons. Haruka Mitani (Film) is an independent filmmaker whose films reflect hands-on processes and a deep interest in the materiality of film. In 2013 she completed a degree in Image Arts and Science at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto. Her films have appeared in festivals around the world and she is active in expanded cinema performances at live events in Kyoto, including the “Experiments in Art and Technology” series. She was raised in a Kyoto crafts family and in addition to making films, she is an apprentice lacquerware artist.</p>

<h4>Vj Fader / I'm on EDMT</h4>
<p>EDMT is an interactive audio visual app designed by media artist Fader. He's combining years of his experience as a visual and software designer into one amazing app. It allows you to 'play' with your phone and tablet to create wonderful visuals and make beautiful sounds. There are several engaging scenes to choose from, where you can explore and discover exciting new audio visual environments. In this presentation Tilman and Fader will show the current work-in-progress version of EDMT App for Android and discuss future plans.</p>
<h5>About Vj Fader</h5>
<p>Fader is a visual artist who works with multimedia in a variety of disciplines. From video mapping, generative animation, music videos, stage design to art installations, his work has been shown to broad audiences around the world. He has exhibited at numerous festivals such as Coachella (Indio), Burningman (Black Rock City), Insomniac Events (Los Angeles), Fuji Rock Festival (Japan) and the Mapping Festival (Geneva). He received a degree in Animation from the Art Center in Pasadena California and went on to teach himself how to write programing code for his audio/video performances. He founded the Neuromixer VJ software company in 2004 which features video software and innovative prototypes like faderTouch. He continues to exhibit internationally, expanding his techniques and finding new applications.</p>

<h4>Christian Rauch / STATE Festival</h4>
<p>A quick tour behind the scenes of STATE Experience Science, a collective of independent scientists, artists and cultural producers, working to make science accessible and facilitate creativity without borders. Last year's STATE Festival featured 4 days of events in 2 locations in the heart of Berlin. Over 100 contributing scientists, artists and filmmakers from more than 20 countries took part in talks, exhibitions, films, performances, workshops, panels and interactive science formats.</p>
<h5>About Christian Rauch</h5>
<p>Christian is a physicist with passion for science and the things beyond. Since having resurfaced from a deep dive into academic research, he turned his focus towards the more general impacts of science in society and has been involved in initiating several science outreach initiatives. In 2014 he founded STATE Experience Science, a collective of scientists and artists exploring new ways of engaging with scientific topics.</p>

<h5>About Nenad Popov</h5>
<p>Nenad Popov is a media anarchist with a focus on live cinema pieces, sound installations, film installations, weird sound making contraptions and occasional parasitism on public cultural funds. He has collaborated with artists such as Daan Brinkmann, Electronic Opera, Erfan Abdi, Klara Ravat, Lillevan and his works have been exhibited at Sonic Acts, Dis-Patch, TodaysArt, E-Pulse, Share and Ars Electronica.</p>

<h4>Pablo Rojas / 19th century maladies vs. 'the wonders of science' calendar syndrome</h4>
<p>The everyday growing branches of science, especially biology, hold the possibility to provide the general public with an infinite variety of innovative topics and colorful images. Such information could potentially be used as a novel source of inspiration for the creation of art pieces. Although the aesthetics of such practice may look appealing on a first instance, it is important to draw a clear line between the visual representation of scientific content and a more appropriate collaboration between science and the arts. A better understanding of the history and significance of science in society would undoubtedly facilitate the collaboration with other disciplines of human knowledge.</p>
<h5>About Pablo Rojas</h5>
<p>Pablo Rojas is a photographer and microbiologist who draws just as much from experimental art as from biological experimentation. His artistic work has been exhibited at shows in Quito, Dublin, London, Sarajevo, Braunschweig, Bogota, and Berlin. In 2015, he will complete a DAAD Fellowship and receive his PhD. in medical microbiology from the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin.</p>
